Barton Alexander - Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer

Organization: Molson Coors Brewing Company

Biography:

Bart is Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer at Molson Coors Brewing Company, a major global brewer.  In this role, he led the company to be recognized as the global beverage sector leader on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index - World.

Bart's work before joining Coors was largely in the US public sector, where he held senior positions in economic development and human services at the local, state and federal levels.  In those experiences, he became convinced that long-term solutions to social problems require alignment of government, business and NGO resources.  He began building public-private partnerships, an agenda that continues with his current responsibilities at Molson Coors.

Bart has a particular interest in the convergence of public and private sector values and responsibilities in societies around the world.  Even as governments face challenges of demonstrating their accountability and effectiveness in achieving promised outcomes, businesses face issues of equity and inclusiveness.   In both developed and emerging economies, the roles of corporations, governments, and civil society organizations face reinvention.

Bart is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard, with a concentration in comparative government.  He holds a masters degree from the London School of Economics with a focus on health and social policy and economics.  He later served as a Senior Executive Fellow at the JFK School of Government at Harvard.  Bart actively participates in civic affairs, including board positions with international, national and local NGOs.

Bart is actively involved with his high school aged children.
